Anambra Guber: Police to deploy 21,084 personnel – IGP

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has said the Nigeria Police Force will deploy 21,084 personnel to Anambra State for the November 18 governorship election in the state.
Idris, while addressing a meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, noted that the police had identified some local government areas in the state, believed to be strongholds of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The police boss, however, said the Force would not condone any act of indiscipline during the election, warning that any person or group found culpable would be dealt with.
The IGP said: “A total number of policemen for deployment for the purpose of securing the November 18 governorship election in Anambra is 21,084.
“No group under any guise will be allowed to disrupt or cause violence before and during and after the election.
“Ihiala Local Government in the state has been marked as an IPOB stronghold that needs serious security presence during the elections,” he added.

This comes amid threats by IPOB that election must not hold in the state unless the federal government conducts Biafra referendum.
